Good luck Devan!

Chad's brother Devan came and stayed a few days with us last week. He's leaving on a mission to Las Vegas, NV, so it was good to see him before he left. Little Devan and Tristan had a blast with him. Thanks for your help while you were down, Devan, and good luck on your mission. You'll do great!

I'm in trouble!

Devan has always liked going through my purse finding random things, but today when he was going through it, he was asking for credit cards! "Credit Card? Credit Card?" Isn't he a little young to be wanting my cards? I think I'm in for trouble!

This post started with just the story above, but as the day has gone on, the stories just seem to get better. I was out mowing the lawn with Devan and Tristan. I had finished the front and was starting on the back. I saw Devan was heading for the door so I went after him....
I was to late. He had shut the door and locked the deadbolt behind him. I went around to all the other doors hoping that one would be unlocked. Of course they were all locked, so I then preceded to try all of the windows, no luck there either. As I was looking through windows, I noticed my bread in the oven would be done in 4 minutes. I was on a time table here! My next thought was to get a hold of Chad, but... none of the neighbors seemed to be home! I then spent the next half hour peeping through the little bit of window that wasn't covered, trying to explain to my two year old how to unlock a deadbolt. A half hour and one burnt loaf of bread later, I had succeeded! The click from the lock was the most comforting sound I thought I had ever heard. Never a dull moment in this house.

OK, so Tristan had nothing to do with it, but I'm sure he will soon enough.

Oh, and one last thing, I couldn't post new pictures because Devan broke our camera.

Only Tristan!

It seems like I'm always talking about Devan in my posts, so this one is totally devoted to Tristan.

Tristan had his 4 month doctors appointment the other day. He weighed a whopping 16 lbs 8 oz. It's always sad to see him get his shots, but I was happy to hear he is nice and healthy. The doctor was impressed by his strength and surprised that he is turning both from his stomach to back and back to stomach. She gave me the ok to start on solid foods so we started him with rice cereal a couple days ago. It's so much fun watching him do new things. He has the cutest smile and the sweetest little laugh. Today I was singing patty cake with him, and he was just cracking up laughing.

He is really getting mobile now. He'll see something he wants, and really gives all he has to get to it. He still loves his exersaucer and can spend quite sometime entertaining himself in it. By the way he gnaws on his toys, it looks like he may be getting some teeth in soon! Whatever he can get his hands on goes straight to his mouth.

I am so lucky he sleeps well at night. Chad and I were never very consistent with Devan's sleep schedule, and gave in quite often when he wanted to sleep with us. You better believe we're paying for it now! We learned our lesson and have been consistent with Tristan. It's really payed off. He's been sleeping through the night for a couple of weeks now!''

I love seeing Devan and Tristan play together. Devan really loves his little brother and is very sweet to him. As sweet as Devan can be to Tristan, I still need to keep a pretty good eye out. I've caught Devan a couple of times trying to feed Tristan a sucker, and another time a cracker. When Devan is hurting for some extra attention, often times he will look at me and then slowly lower himself over Tristan, as to sit on him. It's really a pretty good tactic because it gets my attention every time. The other attention getter is running up to Tristan as close as he can and then stepping of his head. that grabs my attention pretty quickly also. Tristan takes it all pretty well. He's going to be one tough cookie!

Count me in!

I've had a few friends post this, so I'm jumping in!

Here are the directions if you want to play.
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.
It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments

Farm House

Saturday we packed up and headed out to our brother in laws families farm house. It was great because we got to see our sweet little nephew,Kent, who had just gotten out of surgery. We were so glad to see he is recovering amazing well!

When we first got there, we went down to the pond to show Devan the fish and row boat. Devan is use to going to the water park and beach where he can run right into the water. The first chance he got, he made a run for the muddy pond water. I had to jump in after him! We were both pretty wet, but luckily it wasn't any worse than that!

Devan loved riding in the boat with Chad. His uncle Matt took him for a ride in the "mule". He loved seeing the cows, and thought it was hilarious when they mooed. After playing so hard, he had a nice time relaxing in the hammock.

Tristan enjoyed being outside and hanging out with Dad and Grandma Iwalani.

Only in Texas...

Yesterday, while on our way home, a car came speeding by recklessly in the lane next to Chad and I, only to come to an abrupt halt at the stop light close ahead. When we were once again parallel with the car, Chad looked over to see what kind of crazy person would be driving like that. What he saw caught us by surprise, it was a young lady drinking a bud light as she was driving! We were totally shocked. Needless to say, we jotted down her license plate and called her in to the police. Really, who does that though. Only in Texas! Here's some other things you might find only in Texas...

A Texas car wash

A Texas Limousine

Yes, we fully support the right to bare arms

A police officer clocking vehicles

Classy

In Idaho we have snow cone stands, In Washington there's lots of coffee stands, but in Texas we have drive-thru liquor stands

Flying Texas style

Now this is just sad

Silly Devan

Age 2 has got to be one of the funnest and most frustrating ages. I have a couple stories about Devan.

Ever since we got back from our trip to the beach, Devan has constantly wanted to take baths and be in the water. I was talking on the phone with my sister Laura today, and he kept asking for a bath. "Baf Mommy? Baf". I kept telling him to wait, so he took matters in his own hands. A few minutes and a bottle of soap later, I found Devan sitting in the tiny 1/2 bathroom sink, running water, and pumping soap. He looked up at me and asked, "Baf?"

My first instinct was to be upset, after all he had gotten his clean clothes all wet. I then started thinking more logically and realized this would make a great blog! So I grabbed the camera instead. Besides, who can get mad at this? It was far to cute!

After that incident, I told him he could go get into a real bath. It must not have been as fun because he only lasted a total of about 2 minutes in there. I got him dressed again and we went back down stairs. I thought I better write this down while it's fresh in my memory. So I started a new blog post and yet again, I hear the bathroom water running again. And yes, you guessed it, there was Devan sitting in the sink taking another "Baf."

Trip to the Beach

For the fourth of July weekend we took a trip to Galveston, TX. Devan hadn't been to the beach since he was about 3 months, and it was Tristan's first time. They had a blast!

Devan enjoyed playing with the dog at the beachhouse.

Tristan just liked hanging out.

We all had a great time at the beach!

Riding boogey boards.

Building sand castles.

Catching waves.

And enjoying the sun.

We had fun and played hard.

By the end of each day we were exhausted!
