Picture Tag!

I was tagged by Traci. Here are the rules...go to your pictures and go to the fourth file and then the fourth photo in that file and you have to post the picture....Here it is...
Ah, it's Devan's first Christmas. I can't believe this will be his 3rd this year, and Tristan will be the same age as Dev in this picture!
I tag Bree, Lauren, Natasha, Natalie, and anyone who would like to do this. (it's kind of fun, I hadn't seen this picture for a long time!)

I can't believe it!

I missed the new Office episode. I am so sad. Our DVR is set to record all of them, but it didn't get the new one for some reason. I got the re-run, but not the new one. This is the only show I look forward to watching, and really the only show, besides Thomas and Cars, that I watch. *sigh* Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait for the re-run on Tuesday.

Getting Old...

Chad wanted me to post a few things for him because he's, "getting old, and doesn't want to forget." Hey, he said it not me. They are actually some cute things that I've wanted to post anyway, but keep putting it off.

The first one is from quite awhile back when Devan was first talking. For along time I had been a bit worried because he hadn't made much progression with talking. Hey would say Mom, Dad, no, and a few other things, but had a pretty limited vocabulary. Well, one morning I asked, "Devan, what do you want for breakfast?" He was half way down the stairs, and in a very demanding voice, he pointed to the kitchen and said, "PANCAKES!" I never posted this because I couldn't capture in words the expression on his face, or the funny way he demanded them, but I figure, at least Chad and I can look back and get a good chuckle. Oh and one more thing, all you other mommies out there with late talkers, don't worry to much, they'll start when they're ready :)

Devan almost loves the movie "Cars" as much as Thomas the train. Those of you who have seen Devan with Thomas know just how much that is. Well, we never owned the movie Cars, but we had it recorded on our DVR. Devan doesn't get into a lot of movies yet, but that's one he has really enjoyed. Well, Chad accidently deleted the recording. For days Devan was asking for Cars. Oh and when he asks for Cars, it's great, he just doesn't say Cars, he adds in the "achooga, achooga" , and "vrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmm..." , and all those fun other little sounds from the show. Well, Chad, being the family problem solver, decided we needed a fix to this problem. He was flipping through channels and happened to see NASCAR. He called Devan in, and Devan loved it! He was making all sorts of car noises and was pretty excited about it. I'm not a huge NASCAR fan, but I told Chad it was fine if they decided to become fans, just as long as they didn't grow mullets.

Chad loves watching football. He convinced me to let him get the NFL Sunday Ticket. If you don't know what that is, it pretty much means you get every NFL game possible. The only thing I can think of that Chad enjoys more than that right now, is watching the games with his boys.

Tristan is such a strong boy. I know I've said this in other posts, but it really is amazing to me. He's crawling and sitting by himself. Not only does he sit by himself, but he pulls himself from the ground to a sitting position by himself. I had a party last week and all the other mommies were impressed by how he was getting around. He loves peek-a-boo lately. He'll giggle and giggle as long as you keep the game going. His two bottom teeth have broken through. He has taken the teething really well, and hasn't been to fussy about it. I swear, he is going to be the toughest kid. Devan can get pretty rough with him sometimes, but he takes it pretty well.

Today Devan went with me to take the car in to get aligned. We had to wait a long time, but he did pretty well. There was this lady there, who must have been having a bad day because she was looking pretty serious. Well, Devan was just being his usual two year old self, walking through the waiting area, like he owned the place, singing, dancing a little bit, and talking to himself. Most the time he can at least get a smile from people, but not this lady. Devan must have known she needed a little pick up because even though she wasn't giving him the time of day, he went up and started chatting to her. Well, as hard as she tried not to, I saw a little smile creep in and she actually said hi to him. Devan's mission was accomplished. Once he got that he ignored her the rest the time we were there. While we were waiting I noticed there was a grassed area outside, so Devan and I went and played on it for awhile. Devan loves being able to run around outside, so he had a blast. He sat down for a little while and started saying "ouch mommy." Well, I've had this experience before, so I knew it must have been ants. I love Texas, but I could definately go without the ants, spiders, scorpians, and the heat in, June, July, and August! I had to brush the ants off his legs, and the poor kid had a number of bites.

I know this is a humongous post, but I've got one last thing. Tristan has been exploring new foods lately. He loves the oatmeal and rice cereals, and the occasional lilcks of lollipops I catch Chad giving him. Well, I thought the other day I would give peas a try. To put it short, he wasn;t a fan. His face squirmed up and he spit it out. He even gagged a little bit trying to get the taste out of his mouth. Well, they say to keep trying with foods because alot of times they end up liking it. Well, the second time around I got him to take a bite, but then the same thing happened, he squirmed up his face and spit it out. Well, Devan who is convinced everyone else's food is better than his, had to have a bite. Funny thing, he had the same exact reaction. He gagged down the first bite, but couldn't handle a second one and spit it out.

6 months

I can't believe Tristan is 6 months already. He had his half birthday on Saturday. Today while I was playing with him I realized how big he has gotten and felt a little sad. He is so much fun these days. All you have to do is make eye contact with him to get a smile. Say a couple words and you'll get a giggle.

Devan and Tristan have become pretty good pals lately. Devan can get a little rough with Tristan sometimes, but Tristan puts him in his place by pulling his irresitably long hair.

Tristan started solid foods a few weeks ago. Up until just this last week he would spit most of it out, rub it in his hair and face, and call it good.

Well, he's finally getting the hang of it now. I'm so happy about that. Devan is such a silly boy, whenever I make Tristan his oatmeal he'll come up and ask for a taste. I give him a spoonful and he goes, "mmmmm...(makes a bite noise) taste gooood."

This is one of Devan's favorite places to lay. I think he's pretending to be asleep in the picture. He's a nut. He is a pretty smart boy though. We bought him a train table with a wood track and everything (used for $30 woohoo!) Chad couldn't figure out how to connect one part of it. Devan (who is great with puzzles) moved it around a bit and fixed it! Sometimes he's a little to smart for his own good. He's been potty training these last few weeks. He's figured out that he can use this to his advantage. When he get's in trouble and has to got to time out, he magically has to go potty, same for when it's time to go to bed. So what do we do? We don't want to discourage him from using the bathroom, I don't want to have to change his diapers anymore! But at the same time, how do we follow through with a punishment or keep a schedule for bed time if he does this. So frusturating...

On a different topic, I'm getting excited to go to Idaho mid-October. My mom is the only one on my side of the family who has met Tristan. So I can't wait for everyone to finally see him. Also, my sister Leslie and her family will be there from Norway with their new baby, Sophia. I can't wait to meet her! And finally, I can't believe I haven't met my new brother-in-law, Landon. I was 8 months pregnant when Lindsay and Landon got married so I couldn't make it to Idaho. It's going to be so great to see everyone, I can't wait!

Kiddie Cone

The other day we went to get Devan an icecream cone. OK, I went to get me an icecream cone and Devan happened to be with me :) Well, I asked them to give him a kiddie cone and this is what I got.

No wonder child obesity is such a problem! And what ever happened to free kiddie cones. Places use to give them out all the time. That must have changed when they decided to "super-size" them.

Devan plays so hard somedays, he falls asleep while eating his lunch.

The boys love their daddy. Devan use to be such a mommy's boy, but lately he's been crying (real tears) for daddy to come home! I guess I'm not cool enough anymore. And Tristan, look at these pics. and you can tell how much he loves Daddy!

Labor Day Weekend

Chad had Labor Day off from work and he also took tuesday off, so we had an extra long weekend. It was really nice because the weekends always fly right by. Saturday I took the kids to the zoo. I had been wanting to take Devan for a long time, but it would either rain or something would come up. It was hard with both kids, but Devan had a blast. The animals I could have passed right by, Devan found fascinating (fish, birds, etc.) For example, when we went to see the hippo, he could care less about it, he liked all the bright little fish!

I forgot to mention, this was tristan's first trip to the zoo. He could kind of care less, and would have prefered the air conditioned house.

Devan thought these animals were all pretty cool.

On the move

Tristan is on the move. He's been army crawling for a couple weeks now. In the last couple of days, he's been lifting himself on all fours and actually crawling! I'm a little nervous about him becoming mobile, Devan's already quite a handful, but at the same time, it's so much fun watching him learn and do new things. He's very interested in toys lately and chewing on everything in sight!

Devan learned a lesson today. He now understands why I won't let him up by the stove. He snuck up there after I had made some oatmeal today and got his first burn. Luckily it wasn't a very bad one. Poor kid! We put some ice on it and he's all better now :)

Late night...

I was going to stay up late tonight to clean the house and make bread. Somehow I forgot about making the bread, and the cleaning, well, I didn't exactly forget about it, but I started making cards and decided that was more fun, haha! So now it's 3 in the morning and I've made some pretty darn cute cards, but my house is a mess. What's a woman to do.

Someone left a cleaning business card on my doorstep today, and when I checked the mail inside the valuepak, there was a coupon for a cleaning service. Is this a sign? hmmmm...

Well, on another topic, I'm now an official Close to my Heart independent consultant. If you haven't heard of it, It's a scrapbooking/stamping company. It is so much fun. Their product is so cute. I'm getting ready to throw my first party September 19th! I'm really excited. For those of you in Texas, you'll be getting an invitation soon :) And for those of you elsewhere, if you see something in the idea book online (http://www.closetomyheart.com/) that you would like, I'd be happy to place an order for you. I'm hoping to get my own website for it soon. I'll keep you posted on it!

OK, kind of a funny story. I wrote this last night before I went to bed and posted it. I woke up this morning and it wasn't on the blog. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what had happened to it. Well, turns out, about 10 minutes ago I realized that I had posted it on another blog that we had originally started, but changed to this one. I guess that's what I get for blogging at 3 in the morning, haha.

One last thing before I go, when I started running last week with the double stroller, my first day I only made it half a mile and was pooped. Well, today I ran 4 miles non stop! WooHoo for me. I have to admit, it was a pretty slow 4 miles, but still, I was proud of myself :)

Dun dun dun dun...

Chad and I are training for a 5K together! Woohoo! I hadn't worked out since I had Tristan, so I've got a long ways to go. It should be fun though. I found a double jogging stroller on craigslist, so I'll be able to do my distance workouts during the day in our neighborhood and then for speed workouts Chad and I will do them together in the evenings. To keep us motivated, we're making a competition out of it with our bro & sis in law. Best combined score wins. We've got 12 weeks starting from today. We haven't decided what the prize is yet, maybe just bragging rights, who knows :) Even if we don't win the competition, I'm still stoked, cuz if anything I'll loose this baby belly, and get a tan from this killer weather!
