I've been painting the boys room to a design similar to this...
I taped off the walls and started painting the horizontal stripes. Because my walls are textured, some of the paint leaks through the tape and makes it so the lines aren't very clean. Any suggestions on what I can do? I'm a newbie at this.

Okay, that room is so cute I can't stand it - so I looked this up for you - I saw this (laugh) on the Rachael Ray show like a year ago and thought - I need to remember this:
The trick to sharp lines around the baseboard and top of the wall is acrylic gel medium which can be purchased at art supply stores. "Apply it anywhere you plan on taping off the wall and it creates an invisible seal between the painter's tape and the wall. Once it dries, the paint cannot leak through the tape and your edges will be perfect," says Kristan. When painting over the tape, make sure you do not push against it or you risk moving the tape and ruining your straight line. Rather, go with the line of the tape.

Thanks Michelle. I'm such an idiot. I was so excited about paninting the room cute, that I just jumped into it without doing my research. I think I'm going to have to prime it and start all over, lol. Oh well. Thanks for the advice. I'll definately use it the 2nd time around!
Ok Lana I totally didn't see that you had written something ABOVE the picture, and I thought that was Tristan's new room!! I was in shock and awe! That advice Michelle gave is awesome. I'll have to remember that. I almost forget that we can paint and do whatever we want with our own house!
Where did you... how did you... how come the picture already says Tristan on it? I fell for it too- I thought that was your finished room for a minute there and I was ready to buy you some plane tickets to las vegas! Can't wait to see how it all comes together- post pictures!
I love love love that paint! How did you find a picture of a room that says Tristan for your Tristan? Good luck having to re-do it now, I think I'd just give up and make my kid have a blurry-lined room:)
Cute Cute room. My husband hates it becuase i always just jump into painting too! I can't help being excited about it until i get started, not so much fun after that! I use chalk line and paint by hand when I'm doing stripes. Probably time consuming but it works! Good Luck! - Jorelle
I totally thought James left a comment on this one....he was supposed to tell you the trick we used when we painted...clear caulk. Probably a lot like the process your friend Michelle described. Anyways, I LOVE your "inspiration" picture for the room--SO CUTE! Can't wait to see how it all comes together!
Lana, that picture is so cute! Post pictures when you get done! I would love to see how it turns out! GOOD LUCK!
