photoshop fun

So Chad put photoshop on my computer and I've been having some fun with it. I'm not very good with it yet, but am excited to learn more. Here's what I've done so far.

Love my boys

I've got to say it, I just love my boys. They are the absolute best.

I love the way Tristan is always happy. If you don't have a smile to give, he'll work one out of you. I love when you talk to him he'll get this sheepish smile and burry his head into you. I know this will change soon, but I love how he "needs" me, or at least thinks he does. When I leave the room he'll search around for me and want me there with him. The other day at the gym, after about 15 minutes of working out, I was calle to the kids club. Tristan needed me. I don't like it when he's sad, but I do love how he holds onto me and cozzies into me when he needs some extra love and attention. And I do love that when no one can calm him down, I can. I love his chunky little legs and belly that are so irresistable to tickle and his toothy little grin he gives me with the gap between his new front teeth. I really don't believe there could be a happier baby than this little snuggle bug.

I love how Devan finds so much excitement in everything he sees. The other day when we went to the store, every aisle we walked down he'd say, Look it! Look it! Oh wow, Look it! That's the way to live life, finding happiness in such small things. He just thought EVERYTHING, was just so neat! I love that he doesn't need big expensive toys to be happy. He'd feel like the king of the world if I just gave him a quarter to put into those little vending machines in the front of the store. I love that he sees the same squirrel in our backyard every day, but still thinks it's as cool as the day before. I could just watch him all day and get a kick out of it. He asks for "chicken nuggets" for breakfast in the morning, "pancakes" for dinner and "icecream cones" any time inbetween. I love that he just asks for what he wants, not what is expected. I love that he knows just when I need a hug or kiss. Like when I've had a hard day, or when I'm really upset about something. He'll just randomnly give me the sweetest kiss. The other day he was having a hard time laying down for a nap, so I layed by him and pretended to be asleep. He looked over and saw me "sleeping" and gave me 5 little kisses and then fell asleep himself. He usually only says "love you" when someone says it to him first, but last night he randomnly went up to Chad, and whispered in the cutest soft little voice, "Love you daddy." It was so sweet I about cried.

Sure being a mom has it's tough times with long nights, big messes, and headaches. Sometimes things that you love break. Sometimes you don't get a moment to yourself, not even to eat or sleep. And sometimes you feel like you'd be more fit in a crazy house. But all those times are definately made up for with all of the precious smiles, laughs, and hugs and kisses. I love the connection I have with both my boys. It's pretty amazing to be able to know these two as well as I do. I use to wonder how my mom knew I needed the things I did and how she knew just what she needed to do for me. Well, now I know, it's because she's my mom.

I may not be the perfect mom, I do a lot of things wrong. I nag to way to much. I yell to much. We don't have a schedule. I'm not very consistant with things. I give Devan to many sweets. I let him watch "Cars" way to much. I let him have his bottle for way to long. And he's still not potty trained. I let Tristan into bed with us, when I'm to tired to put him back in his crib. The list goes on and on, but as imperfect as I am, I think me and my boys are pretty perfect for eachother!

Oh My

Tristan is growing up way to fast! He's gone from:

-crawling at 6 months
-pulling himself up at 7 months
-and at 8 months yesterday he climbed up our whole flight of stairs!

I ran upstairs to grab something real quick, I was gone for about 30 seconds and Tristan was half way up the stairs. He hadn't even climbed up one stair befor this. I let him keep climbing up and he was so fast. I couldn't believe it. My little baby isn't quite so little anymore. I'm sure walking will be right around the corner!
He came...

He saw...

He conquered!

I know I mentioned this in my tagged post, but I've got to tell the whole story about Devan locking me out the other day. We were coming in from outside and he was ahead of me. He walks in the door first and I follow. I was half way in when, he pushes me back out, shuts the door in my face, and locks it. The shade on the window was open so I proceed to glare at him, pound on the door, and make threats. He's just cracking up the whole time and thinks it's the most hillarious thing in the world. What a stinker! Well, that's not even all, a few minutes later he goes into the bathroom and locks himself in. It's a turn lock not a push one so you can't just stick a toothpick in it, you've got to take the whole handle off. Needless to say, I wasn't very pleased with him, it's pretty darn funny now though :)

A rough start

The day began with a pretty rough start.

1. First, I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a car.

2. Next, I went online to check the news and realized I hadn't had nightmares, Obama really won the presidency.

3. A few moments later, I found the new kitchen decor I had bought broke in 3 pieces, (I wonder who could have done that, hmmmm....Devan).

4. Not long after that, as Chad was going out, the clock above the door fell, and shattered into pieces.

So I was in a pretty rotten mood. Sorry family, I love you guys! At the time these things happened I thought they were all everyone else's fault, but tonight as I think about things I feel pretty bad knowing I have no one to blame, but myself.

1. O.k. the first one I'm going to admit. The whole neck/back thing happened to me once before. I was head banging because Devan thought it was really funny. The harder he laughed the harder I head banged until "POP" there went my neck. It wasn't as bad that time, but that's probably set it off again this time. I'm guessing my injury was a result of that craziness.

2. I have to ask myself, Did I really do all I could do this election to encourage people to vote for the "right" candidate? Answer...No, I did not.

3. Last night I left the decor in reach of Devan...helloooo...that's just asking to have it broken.

4. When I hung that darn clock, I had a feeling that I should have secured it better. Should have listened to my intuition.

So lesson learned here. I need to have a better attitude. It's pretty easy to blame your problems on other people. It's a little bit harder to put your pride aside and take accountability for you actions. The second option results in a much happier less bitter life though.

One more thing. I've had quite the sour attitude about this election. Well, I was reading a friend's blog today and this is what she had to say...

"I was voting for McCain, but oh well. I just pray that Obama can do some good for our country. I think now is the time more then ever to draw close to the Lord, be prepared physcially and spiritually and to make our homes strong in the gospel as much as possible! I will be praying for Obama and I hope you do to! "

What a great attitude to have. I had spent so much time griping that I hadn't thought to pray for him, and the decisions he will be making for our country. What more important thing to do right now? I am truly grateful that I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and have the knowledge that everything that happens here is part of a bigger plan. It's hard to keep that in mind, especially with everything going on in the world today. I think we could definately use all the prayers we can get. Thanks Ashley, and I hope you don't mind me quoting you.

Speaking of quotes, here are some nice quotes about attitude

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. ~Winston Churchill

Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day. ~Author Unknown

Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same. ~Francesca Reigler

To be upset over what you don't have is to waste what you do have. ~Ken S. Keyes, Jr., Handbook to Higher ConsciousnessDefeat is not bitter unless you swallow it. ~Joe ClarkThe only disability in life is a bad attitude. ~Scott Hamilton

My riches consist not in the extent of my possessions, but in the fewness of my wants. ~J. Brotherton

In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer. ~Albert Camus, Lyrical and Critical Essays

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful. ~Buddha

Oops, I accidently voted for Obama...those ballots are just so darn confusing. O.k. not really. The real reason for the "Oops" title is this. My brother Jake sent me a text message saying the following, "Due to long lines all Obama supporters have been asked to vote on Wednesday." haha funny funny, I know, right. Well, someone didn't think so. I had sent it to my friend Amy who recently changed her phone number. I keep forgetting to put her knew number in my phone so it went to a total stranger. Here's how the texting went...

Me: -the original message

Stranger: "Who is this?"

(at this point I thought it was Amy)

Me:"Lana, haha"

Stranger: "Who the hell are you"

(realizing it wasn't Amy, but driving at this point, I didn't answer back)

a couple minutes go by...

Stranger: "Who the *$%$ is this!"

(By this time I'm not driving anymore and can answer)

Me: "Jesse Jackson"

Ok, I didn't say that last part because at the time I didn't think to, I actually did the polite thing, apologized and explained. My gosh though, it was only a joke. People need to lighten up.

My other "OOPS" of the day happened this morning. I had just finished feeding Tristan and went to get up when "POP"! There goes my neck/back. I felt this surge of pain and dropped to the floor. The pain was so bad, I thought I was going to puke. I had to crawl to the bathroom. As I was crawling I began to black out! I finally made it to the bathroom, but had no movement in my neck, so I had to just lay on the floor (gross, I know)

Lucky for me, Chad hadn't left for work yet so he was able to work from home. I spent the first half of the morning paralyzed, ok I wasn't paralyzed, but I really couldn't move me neck! By the second half of the day I felt better, but am still feeling sore! Am I really old enough to be having these aches and pains!
