Getting Old...

Chad wanted me to post a few things for him because he's, "getting old, and doesn't want to forget." Hey, he said it not me. They are actually some cute things that I've wanted to post anyway, but keep putting it off.

The first one is from quite awhile back when Devan was first talking. For along time I had been a bit worried because he hadn't made much progression with talking. Hey would say Mom, Dad, no, and a few other things, but had a pretty limited vocabulary. Well, one morning I asked, "Devan, what do you want for breakfast?" He was half way down the stairs, and in a very demanding voice, he pointed to the kitchen and said, "PANCAKES!" I never posted this because I couldn't capture in words the expression on his face, or the funny way he demanded them, but I figure, at least Chad and I can look back and get a good chuckle. Oh and one more thing, all you other mommies out there with late talkers, don't worry to much, they'll start when they're ready :)

Devan almost loves the movie "Cars" as much as Thomas the train. Those of you who have seen Devan with Thomas know just how much that is. Well, we never owned the movie Cars, but we had it recorded on our DVR. Devan doesn't get into a lot of movies yet, but that's one he has really enjoyed. Well, Chad accidently deleted the recording. For days Devan was asking for Cars. Oh and when he asks for Cars, it's great, he just doesn't say Cars, he adds in the "achooga, achooga" , and "vrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmm..." , and all those fun other little sounds from the show. Well, Chad, being the family problem solver, decided we needed a fix to this problem. He was flipping through channels and happened to see NASCAR. He called Devan in, and Devan loved it! He was making all sorts of car noises and was pretty excited about it. I'm not a huge NASCAR fan, but I told Chad it was fine if they decided to become fans, just as long as they didn't grow mullets.

Chad loves watching football. He convinced me to let him get the NFL Sunday Ticket. If you don't know what that is, it pretty much means you get every NFL game possible. The only thing I can think of that Chad enjoys more than that right now, is watching the games with his boys.

Tristan is such a strong boy. I know I've said this in other posts, but it really is amazing to me. He's crawling and sitting by himself. Not only does he sit by himself, but he pulls himself from the ground to a sitting position by himself. I had a party last week and all the other mommies were impressed by how he was getting around. He loves peek-a-boo lately. He'll giggle and giggle as long as you keep the game going. His two bottom teeth have broken through. He has taken the teething really well, and hasn't been to fussy about it. I swear, he is going to be the toughest kid. Devan can get pretty rough with him sometimes, but he takes it pretty well.

Today Devan went with me to take the car in to get aligned. We had to wait a long time, but he did pretty well. There was this lady there, who must have been having a bad day because she was looking pretty serious. Well, Devan was just being his usual two year old self, walking through the waiting area, like he owned the place, singing, dancing a little bit, and talking to himself. Most the time he can at least get a smile from people, but not this lady. Devan must have known she needed a little pick up because even though she wasn't giving him the time of day, he went up and started chatting to her. Well, as hard as she tried not to, I saw a little smile creep in and she actually said hi to him. Devan's mission was accomplished. Once he got that he ignored her the rest the time we were there. While we were waiting I noticed there was a grassed area outside, so Devan and I went and played on it for awhile. Devan loves being able to run around outside, so he had a blast. He sat down for a little while and started saying "ouch mommy." Well, I've had this experience before, so I knew it must have been ants. I love Texas, but I could definately go without the ants, spiders, scorpians, and the heat in, June, July, and August! I had to brush the ants off his legs, and the poor kid had a number of bites.

I know this is a humongous post, but I've got one last thing. Tristan has been exploring new foods lately. He loves the oatmeal and rice cereals, and the occasional lilcks of lollipops I catch Chad giving him. Well, I thought the other day I would give peas a try. To put it short, he wasn;t a fan. His face squirmed up and he spit it out. He even gagged a little bit trying to get the taste out of his mouth. Well, they say to keep trying with foods because alot of times they end up liking it. Well, the second time around I got him to take a bite, but then the same thing happened, he squirmed up his face and spit it out. Well, Devan who is convinced everyone else's food is better than his, had to have a bite. Funny thing, he had the same exact reaction. He gagged down the first bite, but couldn't handle a second one and spit it out.

Your kids are so cute and funny. Thanks for sharing all those stories, it was fun to read them. I bet that "Pancake" one was pretty hilarious! It's good to post things like this, so that you'll remember! Cute kids!

Sound like you're kids are super fun! Being a parent is the best thing ever. I didn't realize that our babies were so close in age, Bransen just turned 4 months. And we also went through the Cars phase with Davy. He would watch it 4 or 5 times a day.

There are too many cute stories for me to comment on! I think it's great your husband watches football with the boys.(seahawks fans?) Then he has someone else to talk stats over with. You are the best wife ever to get NFL Sunday ticket. I think the NFL channel itself gets old pretty fast. Having your boys watch NASCAR was a smart alternative, especially compared to some other racing movies like Talledega Nights or Days of Thunder. Ok, I can't remember what all else I read, but it sounds like things are fun and new for you all the time!

I can't wait to see them! This was so fun to read, I'll have to have Jake read it, he would love hearing these stories! He is SO excited to see you guys, he is really concerned about them not knowing him and him not being the favorite uncle! It cracks me up! But, it's cute to see how excited he is! I can't wait til we get to have little memories like this! Oh and YOU'RE NOT FAT, so whatever!
